Ms. Katherine Ann Smith

Katherine Ann Welch Smith "Ann", 88, passed away in her home in Hattiesburg, MS on Wednesday May 17, 2017. Mrs. Smith was born on October 12, 1928 in Union County, Arkansas to Mertle John and Gertrude Hudson Welch. She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Marshall Augustus Smith, Jr. and her son Mitchell Drew Smith, Sr. She is survived by her sons: Marshall Augustus Smith, III, Mason Sands Smith (Linda), Matthew Edward Smith, and her daughter-in-law, Debbie Gaspard Smith. She is Ma to 10 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. Ann Smith or "Miss Ann" as she was known, was a joy and a light to everyone she encountered. She is beloved by her family, friends, church, and members of her community. Those who knew her will never forget her infectious smile, the vibrancy with which she lived, nor the lives she touched.
