Mrs. Katherina Christina Daniels, 58 of Wiggins, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, February 20, 2017, at Memorial Hospital of Gulfport. Kathy was born October 23, 1958 at Fort Knox, Kentucky, the oldest of 3 children to Lee & Gaby Prine. She would grow up in various cities and towns in the US and Europe, as her father served in the US Army. After his retirement, the family returned home to Bond here in Stone county. Once the family settled in, she became actively involved in her church, what is now Word Alive Revival Center, where she taught Sunday School, played piano, sang, and served the Lord with gladness. She went to work at Stone County Hospital, and then Spyder Manufacturing, as well as the Stone County Health Department. Along the way, Kathy would meet and marry the love of her life, Danny Daniels, and together they began their family in Wiggins. She devoted her life to raising her children, Rusty and Christina. Only after they were old enough, she decided to return to work. She had developed a passion for children, and went to work at Stone Elementary School as a teacher's assistant. When her daughter graduated high school, Kathy decided to return to college herself, and become a teacher. She enrolled at William Carey and obtained her bachelors in Elementary Education. She was a member of Phi Theta Kapa, finishing at the top of her class of 127 students, and the only one to do so with a 4.0 GPA. A country girl at heart, she loved camping, fishing, travelling, and "girls day out" with her friends. Kathy is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Danny; her 2 children, Rusty Daniels, and Christina Byrd (Trey), all of Wiggins; her sister, Janie Alexander (Phil) of Lubbock, TX; her parents, Lee & Gaby Prine of Wiggins; her brother, Dennis Prine (Angela) of Petal, MS, and numerous nieces and nephews. While she did not have any actual grandchildren yet, Kathy certainly had countless children that she considered to be grand, both at church where she taught Sunday School for over 35 years, and through the Stone County School system. She will be sadly missed by all those who's life she touched. She was preceded by her grandparents, Wm. DeWitt & Beatrice Prine, and a very close friend, Donna Dixon. The family will receive friends at a visitation on Thursday evening from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM, at her church home, Word Alive Revival Center on Hwy. 49 N. in Wiggins. The funeral service will be help at 10:00 AM on Friday morning, followed by interment at the Bond Cemetery. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Daniels family in their time of need.
