Julia Willene Blackburn, a barefoot, nature-loving hippie, and a legend of her time, passed away July 26, 2023. Born October 10, 1961, in Hattiesburg, MS to Charles and Patricia Yawn. She was known for her loving, passionate, and creative spirit. A woman who danced to her own music, quite literally, and was always high on life. Julia was the kind of woman who could make a rock concert out of a fishing trip. A feisty and fierce protector of those she loved, and a headstrong force to be reckoned with. Her grandbabies knew her as “Nana” and it was a name she wore proudly. She was as creative and crafty as they come, and her love for classic and southern rock, especially Janis Joplin, was legendary. Julia was the kind of woman who could turn a simple walk in the park into an adventure. She loved being outdoors and was always ready to take on the world with her bare feet. Julia never met a stranger and was always ready to share a laugh or a story. So, let's raise a glass, kick off our shoes, and celebrate the life of a woman who was truly one of a kind. Julia, may you dance barefoot in the heavens, catch the biggest fish, and continue to shine as brightly as you did here on earth. She is preceded by her father, Charles Yawn, and grandson Michael Anthony Davis II. Left to cherish her memories are her seven children, Eric (Rebecca) Blackburn, Matthew (Jennifer) Pates, Rachel (Bobby) Stuart, Breezie Herrin, Deven Pates, Jennene Kuhlmann, and Zackary Kuhlmann; her mother, Patricia Yawn; her siblings, Charlotte Beasley, Billy Yawn, Jimmy Yawn, Cindy Anderson, Susan Raynes, and Tina Madden; her grandchildren, Damon Davis, Brandon Davis, Jade Davis, Devin Culpepper, Hailee McClendon, Dustin King, Dylon Stuart, Hunter Pates, Trevor Pates, Phoebe Cooley, Miley Pates, Ava Blackburn, and Colten Blackburn; along with seven great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Sophia, Raelynn, Lillian, Scarlett, Brooklyn, and Peyton. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Blackburn family in their time of need and asks that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers through this trying time. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the family to offset funeral expenses via cashapp to $RachStuart or by clicking the donation button on our website.
