Joseph Anthony Landro, 81, passed away on March 31, 2025 at at Ocean Springs Hospital. He was born on October 03, 1943 in NY, one of four children, but the only child born to Anthony and Velma Virginia (Smith) Landro. There would eventually be seven children in all, so Joe was part of a larger family. Growing up, he spent some time in South MS, and also some in New York, but eventually made his way back to the South. He called Wiggins home and spent most of his adult life there. Joe worked in several places over the years, including at the co-op, lumber mills, off shore, maintenance, and many other odd jobs to boot. Later in life, Joe became a handy man and stayed as busy as he wanted doing whatever someone might need. He was a very independent person that enjoyed the music of his era. Old rock and roll, Bo Didley and so many others were his favorites. He would often visit the casinos to have some fun and pass the time. Joe is remembered as a simple and very frugal man who loved to tell stories of the past. He was animated, enjoyed having a good time, and as generous as they come, eager to help anyone in need. His family and friends could always count on a fun time when Joe was around. The holidays were among his favorite times of the year, especially Christmas and digging in his stocking. He enjoyed movies and television, watching old westerns a lot, but horror movies and slasher films were at the top of Joe's list. For all that he was, his family and friends will forever cherish the memories and laughs they have shared through the years. Joe was preceded by his parents, his mother Velma Griffith and his father, Anthony Landro, and his brother, Junior Wheat. Left to cherish his memories are: his sisters, Alice Lott of Ocean Springs, Gladys Wheat of CA, Betty Wheat and Linda Smith, both of Columbia, MS, and his brother Billy Moon of Wiggins; his niece Rachel (Nick) Puffer of Ocean Springs, a nephew Neil Parker of Biloxi, with great nieces and nephews James Edwards and Mary Brewer, along with numerous extended family and friends he made through the years. Joe's final wishes were to be cremated, which his family is honoring. A Celebration of Life will be held in Joe's honor at Trinity Funeral Services in McHenry on Saturday, April 5th, beginning at 3 PM. Friends are encouraged to come share stories and memories shared over the years. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Landro name family in their time of need and asks that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers through the days ahead.
