Joseph Edwards

Joseph Edwards, 66, of Picayune, MS., passed away peacefully, on March 24, 2023, in his home, surrounded by his family. Joe was born in Macon, GA. to Prentiss and Effie (Mercir) Edwards on October 17, 1956.  Joe was a retired fireman out of Slidell.  After retirement, he became known as "Santa", as he enjoyed sitting in HIS rocking chair dressed as Santa Claus during the holidays.  Joe loved traveling, especially to Tennessee where he enjoyed visiting often.  He will be missed immensely by all who knew and loved him.  Joe is preceded in death by his father Prentiss Edwards; his step-father Albert Gauley; one brother Jesse Edwards; and one step-sister Cindy Ann.  Left to cherish his memory, are his loving wife of twenty-two years, Janet Edwards of Picayune;  his mother, Effie Edwards Gauley;  two brothers, Van and Oscar; two sisters, Minnie and Robin; one step-brother Jimmy; one step-sister Ruthie; one son Joseph Paul Edwards; one step-daughter Jessica (Mikie) Ayo; one step-son Kelly (Amy) Young; grandchildren Joseph Dominick and Rebekah Noel Ayo, and Brenden Derek Pierce Young.  Joe leaves a legacy of numerous nieces and nephews as well as extended family and friends whom he loved deeply.  Services will be held for Joe at a later time when the family is ready and well.  Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Edwards family and asks that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this challenging time.
