Mr. Johnny Lynn "Rope" Roper, 65 of Wiggins, passed away on Monday in Gulfport. Mr. Roper was born July 17, 1951, on Galveston Island, Texas, to Neil and Cozette Roper. He grew up in the area, graduating from Ball High School and making many lasting friendships. He became an electrician, and spent time working with MS Power Company, and in the construction industry. Roper was a kind, loving, and very giving person, who would help anyone at any time. Those who knew him often sought him out for counsel and advice. He loved the outdoors, especially when it involved a cookout, being at the beach, or other places where friends would gather. He enjoyed his music, and if you were his friend, you had a true friend. He will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his life partner, Virginia Miles of Wiggins; one son, Shawn Michael Roper (Heidi) of Texas City, Texas, and a godson, Christopher Garner (Elizabeth) of Long Beach, MS; his siblings, one sister, Delores Roper, and 3 brothers, Ronnie Roper and James Roper, both of Las Vegas, NV, and Morris Adams; 3 grandchildren, 3 godgrandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends, all of whom he cherished. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. F.P. Roper of Wiggins, his parents Neil & Cozette Roper, and one brother, Donald "Donnie" Roper. Mr. Roper's desire was to be cremated, and for his friends and relatives to celebrate his life, remembering all the wonderful memories they have made together. He will be taken to the Roper family cemetery and interred at a later date. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to have served the Roper family in their time of need.
