John "Mickey" Wilson James, Sr.

John Wilson "Mickey" James, Sr., 77, of Wiggins, MS. passed away peacefully on June 26, 2023, at Canon Hospice in Gulfport. Mickey was born on November 29, 1945, in Alabama to his parents Artie Ray and Leila (Netto) James. Mickey grew up in Gulfport and various parts of Saucier before settling in Wiggins. Always making sure his family was provided for, Mickey worked hard day in and out, even owning Mickeys Auto Parts in Saucier, until retiring from MGCCC as the Superintendent of Maintenance. In 1990, Mickey married the love of his life, Kathy, who as rumor has it, Mickey paid a buddy five bucks to get her number for him and well, the rest is history. Mickey was known to "tell it like it was" but most importantly, Mickey will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, and most of all husband. Mickey will be immensely missed by all who knew and loved him. Mickey is preceded in death by his parents, Artie Ray and Leila James, and his siblings, Grady, Troy, Ray, Howard, and Marie James. Left to cherish his memory, his loving wife of thirty-two years, Kathy James of Wiggins; his children, Johnny (Patti) James Jr. of Picayune, Kelli Sowles of Picayune, Robbie (Cathy) James of Gulfport, and Aaron (Christina) James of Gulfport; his grandchildren, Hali (Tim) Martino of Saucier, Steven Sowles of Gulfport, Lexi James of Ocean Springs, Colsten Cossey, Payslie James, and Carter James all of Gulfport; his great grandchildren, Ava Seymour, Hunter Seymour, Graysen Martino, Kennedi Martino, and Kamden Grimes; his daughter in law, Janene King of Gulfport; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Services for Mickey will be held at Trinity in McHenry, beginning with a public visitation starting at 10:00 am followed by a funeral service at noon with interment to McHenry Gardens. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the James family during this time and asks that you remember Kathy and the rest of his family in your thoughts and prayers over the coming days.
