John Darryl Thomas

John Darryl Thomas, 73 of McHenry, passed away November 24, 2022 at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport. He was born November 17, 1949 in Kentucky, the son of the late William and Flora Thomas. John was a dedicated and loving husband of over forty years to his late wife, Willie Jean Thomas. He spent his life working as a coal miner, carpenter, and spent twenty-five years as a security guard at Harrah's Casino in Biloxi, where he retired at age 70. John was preceded by his parents, two sisters, Willa Gilson and Wilma Gamble, eight brothers: Earl, Creed, and James Hensley, with Willie, Bobby, Paul, Charles, and Don Thomas, along with his grandson, Travis Wedgeworth. Left to cherish his memories are: his daughters, Julie Hallman, Lori Wedgeworth, Trish Lewis, and Lisa Thomas; two sisters, Judy Benson and Darlene Niday, and two brothers, Ray and Jack Thomas. John leaves a legacy of four grandchildren: DeAnn, Calep, Jenifer, and Rusty, along with six great-grands, and numerous extended family and friends through the years. A graveside service is set for 1:00 PM Monday, November 28th in the Matthews Cemetery in Laurel.
