John Dempsey Perron, age 87, passed away on February 26, 2022 in Poplarville, Mississippi surrounded by his loving family. John was born in Opelousas, Louisiana on September 4, 1939 to the late Killren and Leah Perron.
John was raised in Opelousas, Louisiana the oldest of seven children. John's first job was in a lab in a sugar refinery. When John was young, he enjoyed dancing with his wife, shooting pool, and going to the racetrack with his father to place bets on the horse races. John would go on to become a thoroughbred horse trainer that was known for taking enfeebled horses and building up their health and strength. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and having cookouts at Lake Pontchartrain. John was the Patriarch of his family that would help everyone get through their troubles. He was known for saying "life is hard and its nothing but problems. Take the problems you can find solutions for and don't worry about the rest". John was a loving husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend to many. He will be dearly missed. John is preceded by his parents, Killren and Leah Perron; sons, Joseph Keith Perron and James Clayton Perron; daughters, Lorraine P. McDowell, and Paula A. Perron. He is also preceded by his sister, Beryl A. Kennedy and one grandchild, Joeseph Randy Matherne. Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 57 years, Olma Cenelia Perron of Poplarville, MS; daughters, Alicia Matherne of Poplarville, MS and Janet (Alvin) Hebert of Poplarville, MS; daughter-in-law, Lisa Perron; brothers, Burke Perron, and Jimmy Perron; sisters, Earline Marie Neal, and Sherry Trahan; grandchildren, Alvin John D. Hebert, Christopher James (Jordan Marie) Hebert, Blaine Micheal Hebert, Jonathan James (Cynthia Elena) Perron, Anthony Kilren Matherne, Melissa Ann Perron, Christina Lynn Campisano, Faye M. Clark, Clara M. McDowell, and Jim A. McDowell. John also has nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews left to cherish his memory.
A Memorial service will be held at Trinity Funeral Services in Lumberton on March 10, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Perron family in their time of need and asks everyone to keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this trying time.
