John was born on February 13, 1951, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Pascal V. Marasco and Geneva (Sumrall) Marasco. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret Marasco; his brothers, Frank Marasco and Jerry Marasco; his sister, Adelene Taylor; and his stepsons, Tim Rich and Tony Rich.
John proudly served his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, he worked in various occupations throughout his life, including Ingalls Shipbuilding, Shoney's Inn, and Home Depot in Gulfport, Mississippi. He was raised in Long Beach, Mississippi, and made his home in Saucier, Mississippi, where he resided for more than 40 years.
John is survived by his stepdaughter, Tonya Rich Harrell and family of Saucier, MS; his stepsons, Orval Todd (Linda) Rich and family of Ocean Springs, MS; Mike (Janice) Rich of Oregon and his sister; Carolyn Beverly and family of Loranger, LA; his sister, Shirley Holmes and family of Long Beach, MS; along with many longtime friends.
John was known for his kindness and his genuine love for his family and friends. He enjoyed cooking, planting things, and building items from wood. His warm spirit and generosity left a lasting impression on everyone he met, and he will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026 at 12:30 p.m. at Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi, Mississippi.
Military honors will be provided by the United States Army.
