John Edward “Jim” Williams, age 91 of Lumberton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 14, 2020 in Poplarville. He was born January 3, 1929 to John Moses and Alta Williams in Richton, MS. He was retired from Southland Oil Company. He was a devout husband and father and a very hard worker. He enjoyed singing and playing Gospel music on the piano and guitar. At one time he was in a quartet at Hickory Grove Church. He was raised by a very devout Christian mother in the Church of God and was saved in that church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons-in-law and grandsons. He was a rock for his entire family especially his two daughters. Though he will be missed greatly his family takes comfort in knowing he is with momma in their heavenly home. Jim is preceded in death by his father and mother; infant child, Michael Ray; his loving wife of 72 years, Jerry Williams; son-in-law, Rusty Broome; great-grandson, John Michael Green and eight brothers and sisters, Therrill, James Owen, Mondell, Harbert, Aaron Williams, Lavon Shows, Lenora Shoemake and Theresa Weaver. He leaves behind two devoted daughters; Linda (David) Floyd and Janet Broome; two brothers, Charlie (Vera) Williams, Torrence Lee Williams; sister-in law, Margie Gartman; five grandchildren, Keith (Tina) Broome, Jacqueline (Stacy) Collins, Paul (Melissa) Floyd, Stephanie (Josh) Reaves and Michelle (Allen) Clark, eight great-grandkids; Rustin Broome, Colby Broome, Courtney Braswell, Maeleigh Floyd, Oliver Collins, Dalton Clark, Dylan Reaves, Danica Clark and bonus great-grandkids; Shane, Cassidy, Dakota, Cody, Toni, Brandon and Aydan, three bonus great-great-grandkids among numerous extended family and friends. Visitation will be from 2 pm to 3pm on Wednesday, June 17, at Trinity Funeral Services in Lumberton. Funeral Service will be at 3 pm with Brother Tommy Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Lumberton City Cemetery. Every effort will be made to adhere to the current social distancing guidelines and those attending are asked to take proper precautions.
