Joan is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Almeda Flurry; sister, Paula Flurry Britt; one brother, RW Flurry; and her great-granddaughter, Selah Leigh Patton. She is survived by her son, Zane (Mona) Rhodes of Wiggins, MS; Daughter, Tammi McGee of Wiggins, MS; son-in-law, Austin Moye of Jackson, MS; her cherished and adored five grandchildren, Samm (Adam) Wager of Perkinston, MS, Jeremy (Mollie) McGee of Alabama, Sara (Malley) Rhodes of Perkinston, MS, Kent (Lilly) Rhodes of Perkinston, MS, and Jacab (Kandi) Patton of Marian, NC; her great-grandchildren, DJ, Patrick, Jordan, Khole, Jude, and Sabastian of Perkinston, MS; beloved nephew, Steve (Billie Ann) Britt of Terry, MS, and numerous nieces and cousins she adored.
Joan was a people person. This was shown in the work she did through administration at Azelea Gardens to owner of two local establishments, Toots and The Hideaway. She loved life, but on weekdays between 1 and 2pm, everyone knew not to look for her, because that was "General Hospital time". She could tell you about every story line on the show and any and all past information on the story line. Outside of General Hospital time, Joan kept the penny slots "HOT" at the casino. Joan will be missed by all who knew and loved her. The family would like to send special love and acknowledgment to her friends, Sissy and Tracy Dale of Wiggins; her caregiver, Tonya Jackson of Aide with Care; and the nursing staff with Vital Caring Hospice, with a special thanks to Erin. Services for Ms. Joan will be held Saturday, August 23, 2025, at New Zion Church in Perkinston, beginning at 10:00 am for friends and extended family, and Interment at Hunt Whittington Cemetery directly following. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Smith family and would ask that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers over the coming days.
