Jessie Mae Holland, a beloved motherly and kind soul devoted to her family and community, passed away peacefully in her home in Saucier. Born on November 27, 1945, in Gulfport, Mississippi, Jessie Mae lived a life marked by unwavering love, passion, and dedication to those around her.
Throughout her lifetime, Jessie Mae was best known for the family she nurtured and the many children in her community she raised with tenderness and care. A passionate person with a heart full of generosity, she devoted herself to building a warm and loving home where no one ever left hungry. Her gumbo was legendary—an irreplaceable part of family gatherings and celebrations, a testament to her skill and love in the kitchen. Jessie Mae’s fondness for crosswords, birdwatching, and looking after babies and children brought joy and fulfillment to her days. She was a kind and loving presence, radiant with a motherly spirit that extended well beyond her own household.
Jessie Mae's proudest accomplishment was the family she created and loved so deeply. She is survived by her husband, Archie Holland, who shared a lifetime of love and partnership with her. Her legacy continues through her children: Lisa Cuevas with David King, Mitchell Holland with Ann, Scott Holland with Mary, Jamie Holland with Deann, Rachel Moran, and Justin Holland with Nikki. Jessie Mae was a cherished grandmother to Alissa Cuevas, Ashley Cuevas, Gavin Holland with Taylor, Gatlin Holland, Kristian Sears with DJ, Cody Taunton, Kaley Cobern with Shane, Caleb Holland, Dillon Holland with Chloee, Dalton Holland with Chaseigh, Trista Holland, Hanna Cook with Lance, Zack Moran with Dakota, Easton Holland, and Brenton Cobern. Her family extended further through great-grandchildren Tatum Holland, Blake Sears, Zayne Sears, Scotty Ann Sears, Brenton Cobern, Halle Cobern, Macie Cobern, Annabelle Cook, Harleigh Cook, Laken Cook, Laramie Moran, and many others who will carry forward her loving spirit.
Jessie Mae also leaves behind her brother JD Cuevas who were the light of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Willie Cuevas, and siblings Johnny, Billy, Jerry, Nolan, Nathan, Kenny Cuevas, sister Willie Mae Peterson, and Gerald "Peewee" Cuevas. Their memories hold a special place in her heart and remain a treasured part of her story.
A memorial gathering in honor of Jessie Mae’s life will take place on April 2, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at 319 US 49, McHenry, Mississippi. Those who knew Jessie Mae Holland are invited to come together to celebrate and remember a woman whose motherly kindness, warmth, and passionate spirit touched countless lives.
Jessie Mae’s enduring legacy is one of unconditional love and cherished family bonds. She was a remarkable woman who gave her all to those around her, enriching their lives through her care, her famously hearty meals, and her gentle nurture. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her.
