Jerry Lionel "Rooster" Malley

August 10, 1941 — November 7, 2024

Dedeaux

Jerry Lionel "Rooster" Malley, born on August 10, 1941, in the heart of the Dedeaux Community, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2024, in the same beloved community that he called home. Rooster was a man whose heart mirrored the generous spirit of Dedeaux, where he had grown up, raised his vibrant family, and lived a life as animated and full of love as his nickname suggested.

For 32 years, he dedicated his professional talents to Ingalls, from which he retired, not to rest, but to delve wholeheartedly into what could be called his “unpaid dancing career”. It was hard to find him without a smile, a partner in dance, or a story to share. His bright personality drove him to the dance floor, where he would eagerly extend a hand to anyone and everyone, inviting them into the music and the moment. Roy Koenann's dance hall is where he spent his nights years back. There, under the neon lights and the twang of country tunes, Rooster could be seen tearing up the dance floor, radiating a love for life that was as infectious as it was genuine.

On calmer days, he could be found outdoors, harnessing his mules to a wagon, meandering through wooded trails and across his property. He truly enjoyed giving trail rides and frequently, bringing smiles to everyone. Always starting his mornings with a cherished ritual—a visit to Dedeaux Store for his cup of coffee. He made sure to enjoy the simple things in life and take in the moment.

Not one to shy from thrill and adventure, Rooster embraced Dollywood with the excitement of someone a fraction of his age. Even at the spirited age of 82, his fearless nature had him climbing onto every roller coaster, challenging its twists and turns with a sparkle in his eye that playfully taunted, "that's all ya got?"

As the years went on, he moved in with family and was genuinely loved and cared for beyond measure by those closest to him and will be dearly missed. Always remember, if no one else loved you, Rooster did.

He is preceded by the true love of his life, Francis Marion Malley; parents, Harvey and Nolia Malley, Sr.; three siblings, Harvey “Jimmy” Malley, Kenneth “fat boy” Malley, and Jaqueline Malley. Left to cherish his memories are his son, Terry (Tanya) Malley and Gerry (Naomi) Malley; three siblings, Phillip Malley, Vallerie (Billy Jack) Wilson, and Lorielee (Sherman) Ladner; grandchildren, Bianca (Brett) Orgeron, Bailey (Cody) Wiggins, Katie (DJ) Malley, Jayden Malley, Ashleigh King, Brent Sauer, Garrin Sauer, Chance (Haedyn) Sauer, Ryleigh Shaw, Adysyn Moran, Jaycee Moran, and honorary granddaughter, Lexi Frost; great grand babies, Brant Orgeron, Brewer Orgeron, Suede Wiggins, and River James Sauer.
