McHenry

Jerry Wayne Cox, known fondly to all as Jerry, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2024 in McHenry, Mississippi. Born on June 18, 1958, in Shreveport, Louisiana, Jerry lived a life marked by devotion to his family, a passion for the great outdoors, and a long-standing career as a skilled welder at Ingalls Shipyard. Formerly of Gulfport, Jerry found a home in the woods of McHenry. A man of the wilderness, Jerry was a zealous hunter and fisherman. His greatest pleasure was to camp under the stars, a pursuit he relished tirelessly, weekend after weekend, year after year, until his final days. Those who knew him will remember Jerry as the embodiment of loving kindness, a presence that brought comfort and joy to the lives he touched. Jerry leaves behind a loving family, including his cherished wife of 33 years, Joan Cox, his son David Harrelson and daughter-in-law Shana, along with seven adored grandchildren: Caleb and his wife Lauren, Hunter and his wife Madison, Jaxon and Sawyer Harrelson, Mason Fielder, Morgan and Maddie Lunsford; his brother-in-law Dennis Bourque and his best friend in life Matt Mount. He reunites in eternity with his parents, Bobby Cox and Jeanette Rogers, who preceded him in death. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to service the Cox family in their time of need and we ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers through the days ahead. The family will be holding private services.
