Jerre Eileen Brewer, 73 of Hattiesburg, passed away Friday, Dec. 10th at Select Specialty Hospital in Gulfport. She was the youngest of five children to Andrew J. and Coral (West) Williams, born September 20, 1948 in Laurel. Jerre grew up in the Beat 4 community outside Waynesboro, a South MS country girl who learned all about raising gardens every year, sewing, cross stitch and more. She also learned to play the piano and was an accomplished seamstress as well, making lots of clothes for her children and others through the years. Jerre attended Wayne County schools, graduating with the Class of 1966 and continuing on the Pearl River Community College, becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked for many years in hospitals and nursing homes, finishing her career at the Veterans home in Collins when she retired. She is remembered as a loving, caring sister, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed her cooking and sewing, but wasn't one for much flare, keeping to herself for the most part. She loved her family, especially her children and grandchildren, and will be forever missed by all whose life she touched. Jerre was preceded by her parents, Andrew & Coral Williams, two siblings, Billy Williams and Jeannie Draughn, along with her son, Kyle Brewer and her two best friends, Charlotte Bruce and Janice Sole that she lost in 2020. Left to cherish her memories are: her son David Brewer of Hattiesburg and her daughter, Amy Brewer of Petal; with her two brothers, Truman (Mary) Williams of Waynesboro and Huey (Ursala) Williams of Atlanta, GA. Jerre leaves a legacy of four grandchildren: Michael (Courtney) Brewer, Sammy Helmuth, Maleigh Brewer and Kacey Toney, two great-grandchildren: Kayla and Tristen, along with many extended family, friends and countless patients she cared for over the years. Jerre's final wishes were to be cremated, which her family is honoring. A memorial service is set for Sunday, December 19th, 1:00 PM at the Boyles Chapel United Methodist Church in Waynesboro. Family, friends and loved ones are all encouraged to attend. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Brewer family in their time of need, asking everyone to keep them in your thoughts and prayers through this trying time.
