Jeffrey Jerome Williams

November 11, 1946 — June 13, 2024

Jeffrey Jerome Williams, 77 and originally from New Orleans, passed away June 13, 2024 at his home in Lumberton. He was born November 11, 1946 in New Orleans, LA, one of two children to Griffith and Althea (Alsina) Williams. Jeffrey grew up between New Orleans and San Diego, CA, taking in the culture from both areas as he went. He enjoyed surfing on the West Coast, and the easy life of the big city in New Orleans. He attended schools in both places, opting to obtain his GED and join the United States Marine Corps at 18. Jeffery served four years during the early Vietnam era before his honorable discharge in 1969. When he returned stateside, he met Jane while at the base where she worked. That began a relationship which led to their marriage, two children, and a life of over fifty years together. They made their home in Gretna and Jeffery worked on televisions until he secured a position with the USPS. He spent the rest of his career with the Postal Service as a machine specialist, keeping all the postal service machines running smoothly. Shortly after Katrina came through, retirement came and the family moved to Lumberton in 2009, calling South MS home since. Jeffery is remembered as a loving family man that enjoyed retirement every day. His hearing gave him a bit of a challenge later in life, which led to many laughs and awkward conversations along the way. While you may have been on one subject, Jeffery might have been on another. He was very good with his hands, making things around the house, building just about anything, from furniture to barns. He loved to work in his yard, landscaping and other things. He was a talented painter, repaired sewing machines, and spent lots of time on Amazon and Ebay, Jeffery was very intelligent, and was self-taught for the most part. He took DVD courses in physics, calculus, geometry, history, and so much more. There really wasn't anything he couldn't if he wanted to. When there wasn't anything happening, he enjoyed YouTube, playing on his computer, or just taking a good nap. A loving husband, father, and trusted friend to many, he will be forever missed by all who knew and loved him. Jeffery was preceded by his parents, Griffith and Althea Williams, and his mother-in-law Noelie Theriot, whom he was very close to. Left to cherish his memories are: his loving wife of fifty-three years, Jane; their daughters, Stacy Williams of Lumberton and Sherry (Daniel) Cox of Gretna; his sister Eileen (Michael) Boggess of Eagle, ID; sisters-in-law Selina Hull, Earline Oddo, and Susan Landrum. Jeffery served as paran to Brent Barnhouse, and leaves many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends through the years. His final wishes were to be cremated, which his family is honoring. The family is planning a celebration of Jeffery's life, to be held at the family home in Lumberton on Saturday, June 22nd. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Williams family in their time of need and asks that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers through the days ahead.
