Obituary

Jason Michael Hosey, a man whose life was a testament to faith, resilience, and love, passed away on March 24, 2026, at Azalea Gardens in Wiggins. Born on November 1, 1971, in Warner Robins, Georgia, Jason lived a life rich in spirit, grace, and unwavering devotion, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him.

A graduate of Harrison Central High School’s Class of 1991, Jason’s personality was as vibrant as it was compassionate. Known for his witty sense of humor and fun-loving spirit, he had a remarkable ability to bring joy and laughter to any situation. His huge heart for others shone brightly through his daily interactions. He loved working with the public and was driven by a deep desire to help others feel special, his kindness touching countless lives.

Jason’s faith in Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of his life. He often shared how his Savior transformed him and walked with him through every chapter. Despite the long and difficult battle with post-stroke complications, his faith never wavered. Even when he could no longer attend church, he longed to return and found peace in prayer, gratitude, and the presence of his Savior. One of the most precious memories is of him praising Jesus with hands lifted high, lost in a moment of pure worship and connection. Jason was, as he humbly said, an imperfect sinner saved by grace. He loved fully and asked little in return, embodying the mercy and repentance that sustained him.

Music was a constant companion in Jason’s life, serving as a soundtrack to his memories and a channel for his worship. Gospel and contemporary Christian music, in particular, brought him joy and solace. Beyond his spiritual passions, he enjoyed history, collecting knives and survival gear, reading, and immersing himself in documentaries about the nation he loved. Trips to the mountains brought him peace, and church was his happy place—his sanctuary of faith and fellowship.

Jason’s journey was marked by incredible endurance and triumph over adversity. As a young child, he survived and beat leukemia, a victory that foreshadowed the strength and courage he would display throughout his life. Despite early challenges, including a stroke at the age of 35, he maintained a beautiful outlook on life, believing steadfastly that “all things work for good to those who love the Lord.” His joyful spirit flourished especially when he was surrounded by love and visitors. He fondly remembered his time at cursillo and the profound impact it had on his spiritual walk.

He was imperfect and human but blessed with mercy and grace enough to carry him through every trial. Now, Jason rests in peace, forever united with the Savior who died for him—a comfort to all who loved him deeply.

He leaves behind a devoted circle of living family and friends who treasured him dearly. Among them is Cleora V. Glydewell, “Ginger,” his beloved “momma,” whose love comforted him always. His sisters Jennifer Picco, with her loving boyfriend,  Billy Preston, and Martha Elizabeth Burdeshaw-Pace, as well as brothers William Hosey (Natalie Hosey), John M. Hosey (Robin Hosey), and Fredrick L. Hosey Jr., carry forward his memory. He was also deeply loved by his Aunt Joyce Wierner of Heflin, Louisiana, along with many cousins, nephews, and nieces, including Addison Grace Picco, who lovingly ensured he enjoyed his favorite Reese’s cups whenever possible. Nicholas Picco, his loving nephew, who made it possible to attend Easter Sunday service through a gracious donation and would FaceTime whenever possible!  Travis Picco, who always made him proud and smile reflecting on his childhood memories!   Our  dear family friend Alison McCombs provided him with invaluable love and support, enabling him to spend cherished moments with his mother in the past year.

Jason was preceded in death by his father, Frederick Lee Hosey Sr., stepfather Larry J. Glydewell, brother Charles P. Hosey, brothers-in-law Harry C. Picco Jr. and Jim Pace, as well as his maternal and paternal grandparents. Their memories live on in his heart and in those of his family.

A memorial service celebrating Jason’s extraordinary life will be held on March 31, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a service at starting at 6:00 PM at Trinity Funeral Services McHenry, located at 319 U.S. 49, McHenry, Mississippi. Friends and family are invited to gather and honor a life so beautifully lived—a life marked by enduring faith, laughter, and boundless love.

Jason Michael Hosey’s story is one of grace realized, battles bravely fought, and a love that never faltered. His spirit will continue to inspire and comfort those who loved him, a shining example of a soul anchored in faith until the very end. May he rest peacefully in the eternal embrace of the Savior he so dearly loved.
