Janice Faye Greer, born October 9, 1955, to the late Henry Lucas and Essie Mae Terry, peacefully transitioned from earth to glory on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, in Wiggins, MS, at the age of 69. Janice was a native of Chicago, Illinois, but relocated with her mother, Essie Mae, and older sister Gloria to Lexington, Mississippi, where she spent most of her life. Growing up in Lexington, she became known for her strength, determination, and her unwavering love for family and friends. A proud graduate of Saints Academy High School in Lexington, Janice also pursued some college education, always striving for self-improvement and growth. She was a dedicated worker who spent a significant portion of her career at AA Plant in the Lexington area, where she worked for about 10 years. Though Janice did not have children of her own, she embraced her role as a loving and nurturing mother figure to her nieces and nephews. As they grew older, Janice remained an active part of their lives, always opening her door and offering support whenever needed. Janice had a deep love for music, particularly the soulful sounds of Motown. She also enjoyed sitting on her porch, savoring the simplicity of life, and cooking meals that were enjoyed by all. Her love for animals was well-known, as she cherished her three dogs—Sam, Coco, and Pup-Pup—who were like her children. Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Lucas and Essie Mae Terry; her husband, Anthony Greer; her sisters, Frankie Mae Terry Hankton and Mildred Delores Terry; and her brother, Sonny Edwards. She leaves to cherish her memory two devoted sisters, Gloria Edwards and Freda Terry; her nieces and nephews: Shuntane Terry, Stacey Terry, Sirwanta Terry, Derron Terry, Raymond Edward, Charles Edwards, Clarence Hankton, Zoola Edwards, Le Royce Walker, Antwon Terry, Jessica Edwards, Demetrius Travis; along with a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, and many other relatives and friends who will remember her with love and fondness. Janice's legacy of love, care, and strength will live on through all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be greatly missed, but her spirit will forever be a part of the hearts of her family and friends.
