Gulfport

Jane Tramuta Danielson, age 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 29, 2024. Jane was born on September 19, 1932 in Jamaica, New York and had a very adventurous life. Jane had an unquenchable wanderlust in her innermost being, which she passed on to her children; she traveled extensively with both family and friends during her lifetime. Jane was married to Joseph Tramuta for 23 years and they had six children; after living in Germany, New York, Florida and Alaska, they were stationed at Keesler Air Force Base in 1960. Jane lived in Gulfport for 53 years. She moved to Bremerton, WA in 1984 where she met and married Bert Danielson; she moved back to Mississippi in 1994. A lifelong Christian, Jane loved Jesus and welcomed the opportunity to share her faith with others. She was a vessel through which His Light shone brightly. Jane was an avid dancer, enjoying ballroom dancing, square dancing, round dancing and line dancing. She had the pleasure of attending the Joppa Shriners Ball in May 2024 with three of her children where she joyously foxtrotted around the ballroom. Jane also participated in the Seniors Line Dance Competition at the Biloxi Civic Center with three of her children in May 2024. A lifelong learner, Jane participated in several Elder Hostel programs later in life, including the Everglades in Florida, Cajun culture in Thibodaux, LA, and a Polar Bear study in Canada. Jane wrote a book about the first 40 years of her life titled, Where To Next?, which was published in 2023. Jane enjoyed engaging in conversations with potential buyers at her book signing events, especially at Edgewater Mall and Boozer's Brew and a Cafe Too on Pass Road in Gulfport. Her Monday morning coffee group has been a favorite pastime of Jane's for quite some time, most recently taking place at Pass Books in Gulfport, where much love and encouragement were shared. Jane was preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Catherine Peckholdt, her brother, Arthur “Arty” Peckholdt, her sister, Mary Gagliardi, and her sister, Catherine “Catey” Censori. Survivors include children: Joe Tramuta (Debbie), Kathy Caldwell, Carol Steele (Danny), Judy Rauanheimo (Russell), Mary Boudreaux, and Janey Tramuta (Walter); 8 grandchildren: Christie Lightsey (Eric), Christopher Steele (Julianne), Brent Caldwell, Amanda Spansel (Kenny), Jeremy Rivera (Angela), Joey Tramuta (Hannah), Michelle Fore (Daniel), Elizabeth Zimmerman (Ryan); 6 step grandchildren: Nina Crowe (Rob), Lanie Crowe (Jordan), Joshua Crowe (Carissa), Katie Ivy, Heather Fast (Les), Chelsea Mays (Casey); 10 great- grandchildren, and 10 step great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Vital Care Hospice for providing comfort care to Jane and her family at this difficult time: Carla, RN; Jamie, RN; Logan, RN and Connie, Chaplain, who prayed and sang beautifully, lifting everyone's spirits. The family would also like to thank Markira, who provided such loving care for our mother. A special thank you to Trinity Funeral Services.
