Mr. James Loyd Shrewsbury

September 23, 1933 — March 14, 2018

James Loyd "Jim" Shrewsbury, 84 of Perkinston, passed away Wednesday afternoon in Wiggins. Jim was born on Sept. 23, 1933 in West Virginia, 1 of 14 children to Edward & Dolly Shrewsbury. He grew up in coal mining country, and after school, joined the US Army where he served honorably during the Korean Conflict. Following his military service, Jim worked in the coal mines for a bit, and later became a commercial driver and member of the Teamsters union, making a career of it until his retirement several years ago in Montana. He was a faithful member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in the Butte area, where he lived until moving to South MS for health reason in 2017. He lived a long and fruitful life, and is fondly remembered as a good man by his neighbors there, and as a loving father with a great sense of humor by his children. He will be sadly missed by all who's life he touched. Jim was preceded by his parents, most of his siblings, and a son, Eddie Shrewsbury. Left to cherish his memories are his children, daughters Tammy (David) Phillips of Perkinston, and Buffy (Robin) Fletcher of Hattiesburg, sons Jimbo and Mike (Charlene) Shrewsbury of Wiggins, and Charles Shrewsbury; two sisters, Dorothy (Joe) D'Arco and Lorena Shrewsbury, and brothers Waymon and Norman (Juanita) Shrewsbury; eleven grandchildren, five great-grands, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends scattered across the country. Jim's wishes were to be cremated, which his family is honoring. Afterward, we will be returned to the Butte area, which he loved. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Shrewsbury family in their time of need, and asks that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
