**James Roberds**

1943 - 2026

James Roberds, a man of quiet strength and gentle spirit, passed away peacefully at his home on July 14, 2026, surrounded by his loving family in the place he cherished most. Born in Jayess, Mississippi, James was the beloved son of Geneva and Robert Monk. Throughout his life, he exuded a steadfast dedication to his family and work, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion.

Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Roberds, with whom he shared fifty-four beautiful years of marriage. Mary was not just his spouse but the love of his life, and together they created a wonderful home filled with laughter and love. The ten years following her passing were marked by his enduring love and remembrance of her.

James is survived by his devoted daughter, Kellie, and her husband, Dave, who stood by him through every turn of life. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Matthew, Jamie, and Michael, who were his pride and joy, and his great-grandchildren, Jazmine, Jocelyn, Mia, and Calvin, who brought boundless light into his later years. A cherished friend, David Beckham, also remains to honor James's memory.

In his professional life, Jimmy-Jet was known as a skilled and dedicated aircraft mechanic. His career began with Flying Tiger Airlines, a name synonymous with valor and innovation during World War II. When the company transitioned into FedEx, James continued his work with the same unwavering commitment, proudly carrying on the traditions of the Flying Tigers.

Though he never served in the military, James was deeply committed to supporting veterans. He was an active auxiliary member of several Veterans of Foreign Wars posts, including Post 667 in South Haven, Post 7531 in Hernando, and Post 3937 in Long Beach, Mississippi. His voluntary service was a testament to his respect and gratitude for those who served.

Jim was a man of simple pleasures, finding joy in the great outdoors. He loved fishing and hunting, often accompanied by a cold Coors Banquet, which he enjoyed sharing with family and friends. Known for his culinary skills, he was an excellent grill chef, often remembered for his perfectly cooked steaks and baked potatoes.

A private man by nature, Jim was an avid reader who had a special relationship with his local library, where he was a frequent visitor. His love for books was matched only by his appreciation for privacy and solitude, which he balanced beautifully with his love for family gatherings and camaraderie.

In accordance with James's wishes, a private funeral service will be held to honor his life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in James's memory to a veterans' support organization of your choice, reflecting his lifelong dedication to those who served.

James Roberds will be remembered as a loving father, a devoted husband, a proud grandfather, and a friend to many. His legacy of love, dedication, and quiet strength will continue to inspire all who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace, united once more with his beloved Mary.
