James Robert Peterson, age 81, passed away on January 13, 2024, in Poplarville, MS surrounded by his loving family. James was born in Poplarville on November 28, 1942.James Peterson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and a true pillar of his community. He embraced life with a passion for the outdoors, family, and genuine connections, left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. James found solace and joy in the simplicity of life, often spending his days hunting and fishing, reveling in the beauty of nature. His camp on the Jordan River was a sanctuary where he forged lasting memories and found tranquility amidst the wilderness he so dearly loved. A devoted family man, James cherished the moments spent with his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. He was known for spoiling them with love and affection, creating a bond that will endure through generations. James was an old-fashioned, traditional country man, He could often be found sitting in his yard, surrounded by the fragrant smoke of his cigars, quietly observing the day unfold. His appreciation for the simple pleasures in life was infectious, reminding everyone around him to savor the beauty in each passing moment. James possessed a unique gift for making friends and connections wherever he went. He never met a stranger, and his warmth and generosity endeared him to all who crossed his path. His ability to forge friendships was a testament to his kind and welcoming nature, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of those he encountered. In addition to his family, James had a cherished friendship with Wendell, a bond that went beyond friendship—it was a brotherhood. Their camaraderie and shared experiences added a richness to James's life, creating memories that will be cherished forever. Professionally, James was a skilled welder, and he was well respected by his peers. His dedication to his craft and his exemplary work ethic earned him the admiration and respect of those he worked alongside. James's contributions to his profession mirrored the same commitment and integrity he displayed in every aspect of his life. Let us remember the joy he brought to our lives, the lessons he imparted through his generosity, and the love that surrounded him. James is preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Annie Peterson; one daughter, Kimberly Peterson Ladner; and two brothers, David Wallace Peterson and Larry Joseph Peterson. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Ladner Peterson of Poplarville; one son Clint Peterson (Stachia) of Poplarville, five grandchildren Braden Ladner (Jordyn) of Poplarville, Alysha Ladner of Poplarville, Janna Peterson of Poplarville, Dylan Peterson of Poplarville, and Anna Kate Peterson of Poplarville; three great-grandchildren, Tripp Ladner, Livy Jean Ladner, and Luna Ladner of Poplarville; three brothers, John Peterson of Poplarville, Daniel Peterson of Poplarville, and Rudy Peterson (Terri) of Poplarville; three sisters, Elizabeth Peterson Dedeaux of Poplarville, Rachel Peterson Overstreet of Poplarville, and Judy Peterson Spiers (Audie) Sellers; care-taker and niece Barbara Ann Overstreet Saucier of Poplarville; life-long best friend Wendell Hariel(Wanda) of Poplarville; and a host of nieces and nephews.
