James Willie Mitchell

James Willie Mitchell, 80, of Ellisville, MS passed away on October 3, 2022. Born on August 2, 1942, in Mississippi to James and Ruby (Paxton) Mitchell. As a child, James grew up in Sunflower County and enjoyed going to work with his father at the lumber yard. Later in life, the joy of playing around a lumber yard gave light to becoming a Carpenter. He was a jack-of-all-trades and business savvy. Always a jokester, James loved making people laugh whether it be with his “wild days” stories or just being the funny guy. In his down time, enjoyed coloring and watching every western known to man. He will be truly missed by all that knew and loved him. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Diane Mitchell of Ellisville; daughter, Teresa Cockrell of Indianola, MS, Dwanda Normand of Laurel, MS, Pam Jordan, and DeeDee (Harold) Davis both of Ellisville, MS; one brother, Bobby Mitchell of Jackson, MS; and 13 grandkids, 20 great-grands, and 2 great great grands. He is preceded by his daughter, Ann Mitchell; 2 grandsons, Lil Bit and Billy Lester; his parents, J.W. and Ruby Mitchell; and a son-in-law, Ricky Cockrell. Trinity Funeral services is honored to serve the Mitchell family during this difficult time and would ask that you remember them in your prayers in the days to come.
