James Duncan Haynes, 79 and originally from Ohio, passed away on March 05, 2022 at Pass Christian Nursing & Rehab. He was born on April 01, 1942 in Swanton, the only child to Olend Gerald and Marie (Duncan) Haynes. He grew up there and graduated with the Swanton High School Class of 1960. James got into real estate and worked his way up to becoming a broker. He was in Ohio for several years before moving to South Mississippi, and continued working here in South MS as well. In his spare time, James enjoyed the occasional fishing trip with his son, and visiting the local casinos, where he enjoyed dining out and playing blackjack. He is fondly remembered as a kind-hearted father and friend. James was the "go-to" for his family. No matter what the issue might be, he was always eager to listen, offer his advice, or help out in any way he could. To see him walking toward you might have been intimidating due to his size, but James was the warmest, most friendly heart there was. He had a vivid imagination and loved to tell stories. He also enjoyed writing and actually authored several books, some in an effort to teach others the art of playing blackjack, and a few more telling his favorite Cajun stories. A loving father and friend, James will be sadly missed by all whose life he touched. He was preceded by his parents, Olend & Marie Haynes. Left to cherish his memories are: his children, son Zachary Haynes of D'iberville, and daughters Briana and Christie Haynes, both of Ohio. James leaves a legacy of 3 grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends from Ohio to South MS and beyond. His final wishes were to be cremated, which his family is honoring. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Haynes family in their time of need, and asks everyone to keep them in your thoughts and prayers over the coming days.
