James Russell Goldsberry, known to family and friends as “Jim”, passed away on May 1st, 2025, at the age of 79 in Ocean Springs. Born on September 24, 1945, to the late Frank and Ruth Goldsberry in Columbus, OH. Jim lived a full and vibrant life, marked by devotion to family, service to country, and a sharp mind that never stopped seeking knowledge.
A graduate of Ohio State, of which he was a devoted fan to their football team, and a veteran of the United States Air Force, Jim carried himself with quiet confidence and thoughtful integrity. A proponent of thoughtful conversation, often with coffee, he was never one to shy away from a good-natured debate. Jim would bring to the table not just intelligence but wit and humor.
Throughout his life, he enjoyed engaging in games of chance and thoughtful risk taking, always up for a trip to the casino with his wife. An astute investor, he was drawn to the stability of precious metals, using his keen intellect on investments, and calculated patience, to always turn a profit.
Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife of fifty-seven years, Kathy, with whom he built a rich life filled with love, laughter, and legacy. Together they raised three sons and were blessed with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who continue to carry on their spirit and strength. Also preceded by three brothers; Richard, Robert and Charles Goldsberry and sister Barbra Gwinn. Survived by five sisters; Carol Breese, Nadine (Toren) Taylor, Norma-Jean Miller, and Andria (Phil) Karshner.
Jim’s legacy lives on in his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren; sons, Chris Goldsberry, Casey Goldsberry, Carey Goldsberry; grandchildren, Ashley Noble, Christy (Wesley) Cumbie, Ryan (Veronica) Goldsberry, Cameron (Ted) Henson, Cody Goldsberry, Brandon (Caitlyn) Goldsberry, Alisha (Ryan) Ingrassia, and Elizabeth Merritt; great-grandchildren, Serena (Anthony) Blanchette, Braedin Staten, Jacob Baronich, Amelia Hensley, Madalynn Hensley, Cayden Goldsberry, Anthony Henson, Aria Goldsberry, Levi Goldsberry, Branson Goldsberry, Braelyn Goldsberry, Kenna Ingrassia, Declan Ingrassia, Emmerson Merritt, Adalynn Chandler, and Raylynn Rollins.
