James Kendall Erkhart

March 8, 1968 — January 20, 2022

Gulfport, MS

James Kendall Erkhart, 53 of Gulfport, passed away on January 20, 2022 at Memorial Hospital. He was born on March 08, 1968 in Gulfport, the only child to James "Bo" and Susie (Deschamp) Erkhart. He grew up in the Lizana community where he enjoyed hunting, fishing and racing. From go-karts to dirt track cars, Kendall loved racing. He attended Harrison Central High, graduating with the Class of 1986 and went to work for Howard Smith selling truck parts. Later he went to work for Harrison County Sand Beach Department as an operator, spending the last fourteen years taking care of the beaches. Kendall often took photos of the beautiful sunrises he got to witness. He is remembered as a friendly, kind-hearted guy who was always smiling. Kendall was the type to truly give you the shirt off his back. A Christian by faith, he served as deacon for many years. He was considered a prayer warrior by those who knew him and was often asked to pray. He would always do so, usually right where he was asked, no matter where that may be. An avid Ole Miss Rebel fan, Kendall continued to hunt and fish. He preferred deer hunting with dogs and liked nothing more than hearing a good race. A faithful, loving husband, father and a trusted friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Kendall was preceded by his parents, Bo and Susie Erkhart. Left to cherish his memories are: his loving wife, Nancy; his stepson, Austin Ford (Rashelle Garner); seven sisters-in-law: Tammy (Mike) Sills of New Hebron, Donna Marie, Rebecca (Jeff) Misseldine, Debra (Kenneth) Harrison, Tina (Jack) Diffranco, and Michelle (Ed) Byrd, all of Gulfport, with Amanda (Dale) Vuyovich of Saucier; two brothers-in-law, Bill (Brandie) Spradley of Nashville, TN and Douglas Spradley of Gulfport; along with his four-pawed Blue Heeler "Ash", and numerous extended family and friends. His final wishes were to be cremated and scattered at his favorite hunting spot, which his family is honoring. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Erkhart family in their time of need, asking everyone to keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this trying time.
