James Timothy Cobler, age 63, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2024 in Gulfport, Mississippi. He was born in Ottawa, IL on January 29, 1961 to Joann Cumming.

James Timothy Cobler leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and unwavering love that touched the lives of all who knew him. He was a beacon of warmth and compassion, known for his boundless generosity and his remarkable ability to put others before himself. His heart was as vast as his love for his family, friends, and community. His passion for gardening and his love for his church reflected his deep-rooted connection to nature and spirituality.  James found joy in the simple pleasures of life—cooking, baking, and savoring Italian delicacies with his beloved husband. His culinary creations, especially his birthday cakes, were a testament to his talent and thoughtfulness. James’s holiday spirit was infectious, as he never missed an opportunity to gather loved ones, decorate for Christmas, or send heartfelt cards to the children in his family. His dedication to spreading joy extended beyond the holidays, as he opened his home to host memorable gatherings for Thanksgiving and Christmas. A lover of the outdoors, James found solace in boating, camping, and basking in the sun on Pensacola Beach. His love for travel took him far and wide, but his heart remained tethered to his hometown near Chicago. He adored exploring its vibrant culture and cheering on its sports teams with unparalleled enthusiasm. James's light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His spirit of love, compassion, and selflessness will forever endure.

James is preceded by his grandmother, Mary Cobler; grandfather, Bruce Cumming; his mother; Joann Cumming and his uncle, Jim Cobler. Left to cherish his memories is his loving husband, Larry Asal; sister, Christy (David) Yoesle, and children, Shannon and Mandy; brother, Bobby (Arlene) Cobler, and children, Aj, Crystal, Tiffany, and Tyler; sister, Holly Harken, sister; Debra (Steve)Fornoff and children Daniel and Brad; nieces; Jamie, Missy and  Casey, brother; Bob (Tammy) Asal, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Yvonne and George Asal; and his beloved dog, Ethan. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Cobler Family and ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers during these difficult times. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
