James Edward Babbitt

James Edward Babbitt “Chuck”, age 69, passed away on December 13, 2023 in Gulfport, MS. He was born in Glenwood, AR. on April 4, 1954. Known for his infectious sense of humor, James approached life with a lightheartedness that left a lasting impression on everyone lucky enough to know him. James was a firm believer in enjoying every moment, and he lived his life just the way he wanted. Whether he was cracking jokes or engaging in some good-natured goofiness, he made sure to find joy in the simplest things. His love for life was as boundless as his love for fishing and football. Few things brought him as much happiness as spending time with his beloved grandchildren, creating memories that will be cherished for generations to come. James had a soft spot for his roots and never missed an opportunity to visit his family back home. His laid-back, easygoing nature made him a favorite among relatives, and his presence was a warm and comforting embrace during those family gatherings. James was also known for his kindness and willingness to lend a helping hand, he touched the lives of many with his big heart. As a dad and grandfather, he was unparalleled—a constant source of love, guidance, and laughter. James was, without a doubt, the life of the party, infusing every gathering with his unique brand of joy. James leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion and he will be missed dearly. James is preceded by his loving wife, Susan Babbitt. Left to cherish his memories are his loving children, Melanie Babbitt, Mandy Babbitt, Charles Babbitt, Shawn Babbitt, James Babbitt Jr., and Valarie Babbitt; mother, Mildred Todd; brothers, Billy Babbitt, Herschal Babbitt, and Joey Todd; cousin, Justin Babbitt, grandchildren, Alexis Bates, Ryleigh Bates, Kamonie Babbitt, Cadence Babbitt, Amina Babbitt, Avril Babbitt, and Kathryn Babbitt. Also left to cherish his memories are numerous nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.
