Ms. Jacqueline Marie (Shaw) Ladner, 91 of the Crane Creek community, went home to be with the Lord Thursday afternoon at Bedford Care Center. Jacqueline was born September 10, 1927 in the Crane Creek community of Hancock county, and spent her entire life in the area she called home. She was the youngest of Robert E. Sr. & Erie Mae (Smith) Shaw's two children, and grew up on their dairy farm, where she worked from an early age. Jacgueline attended and graduated from the Sellers School, and married Charles Ladner when she was 17. She remained on, and worked the dairy, while he worked at Ingalls for several years. Later, they decided to open Ladner's Grocery in Steep Hollow, operating it for several years before Hurricane Camille. Afterward, they moved it to Necaise, where it remained for many more years. She became lovingly known by most as "Momma Jacq", and was a faithful Christian and life-long member at Crane Creek Baptist Church. She served the Lord with gladness as a Sunday School teacher, and worked in the kitchen for many years for VBS, family meals, and any other need there was. She was a giving lady who would do for others before herself, and volunteered with disaster relief for the community following Hurricane Katrina. Momma Jacq is remembered as a strong-willed, independent lady who was dedicated to her Lord and Savior, and to her families at church, home, and in the community. A loving mother and grandmother, she will be so fondly remembered, and sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Jacqueline was preceded by her husband of 65 years, Charles Ladner; her parents, Robert E. & Erie Mae Shaw Sr. her son, Darryl Ladner, and her only brother, Robert E. Shaw, Jr. Left to cherish her memories are: her daughters, Nilene (Guy) Necaise and Marlene (Doyle) Ladner, both of Crane Creek, and Lameitre Ladner of the Standard community. She leaves a legacy of 13 grandchildren, 32 great-grands, and 12 great-great-grands, who she loved dearly, along with untold customers, neighbors, extended family, and friends. Services have been set for Saturday, Dec. 15th at Crane Creek Baptist Church. The family will receive friends for visitation at 1:30 PM, with the funeral service set for 3:00. Momma Jacq will be laid to rest in the church cemetery afterward. The family would like to express their deepest, heartfelt thanks to the staff at Bedford Care Center for their loving care for Momma Jacq. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Ladner family in their time of need, and asks everyone to keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
