Jacob Stanley Carpenter, 67, passed away on October 13, 2024, in Saucier, MS. He was born July 19, 1957, in Sutton, WV to the late Jacob and Lillian Carpenter.
Jacob is preceded in death by his daughter, Kerri Anne Carpenter; his parents, Jacob and Lillian (Haynes) Carpenter; and his sister, Robin Carpenter.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of almost 45 years, Diane Carpenter; son, Joshua (Winnie) Carpenter; grandchildren, Garrett, Kody, Matthew, Zachary, Kayli, and Samantha, Simon, Jacob, Joshua, and Jonathan; his sisters, Carla (Dan) Marten, Margie (Mark) Haley, Kim (Don) Scott, Monica (Scott) Martin; sisters-in-law, Eileen (Coco) Giard and Beverly Beauregard, along with numerous nieces and nephews and several very special friends.
Growing up in a Military family, he spent his childhood in many places but mostly West Virginia and Rhode Island. Following in his father’s footsteps he then joined the Navy. Shortly after his military service, Jacob met the love of his life through work and had that “when you know, you know” feeling, then married her just seven months later. The newlyweds shared a passion for the outdoors, spending their early years camping in the serene wilderness of the northeast with Kerri and Joshua.
Jacob had the rare ability to light up any room with his boisterous personality, as if he was headlining a much-anticipated concert. There was never a grocery store visit without it turning into a dance session in the aisles singing, always bringing smiles to an elderly woman’s face and many passersby. He certainly was a people person and made sure to leave as friends instead of strangers. He was a jack of all trades and had a wealth of knowledge, both useful and not.
As a father and grandfather—affectionately known as 'Papa'—Jacob held his role close to his heart, embracing it with a fierce and steadfast love. He loved going four-wheeling with them, swimming and just playing around. His children and grandchildren were his pride, and his joy, finding both a guiding hand and a playful companion in him. Not to be outdone, his dogs, Bo, Bella, and Nova, were by his side through thick and thin, ever-present as his devoted protectors and companions.
We would like to send a sincere thanks to Vital Caring Hospice. Jake’s nurses were angels on earth...Keith, Erin, Natasha and Carlotta, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
