McHenry

Jacalyn Kay Knoll, 71, passed away on May 6, 2024, in McHenry, Mississippi. Born on December 5, 1952, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to the late Dale and Florence Jacobson. Jacalyn's early years were filled with fond memories of growing up in Minneapolis. After Minneapolis she had a beautiful lake house on Maple Lake, a favorite gathering place for loved ones. Before moving south, she lived with her granddaughter in Plymouth and Maple Grove. In 2022, Jacalyn made the decision to move closer to her son and grandchildren in McHenry, MS. She adapted quickly to her new surroundings and found great joy in the southern sunshine, often playfully boasting to her friends and family back in chilly Minnesota about her warm weather. Her career as a claims specialist for a health company was more than just work; it was a passion she pursued with dedication and expertise. The convenience of working from home allowed her to balance her professional life with her personal one effortlessly. Known to her grandchildren as 'Gam' or 'Gammie,' Jacalyn took delight in creating magical moments with them, particularly through baking or traveling. The kitchen was often filled with the sweet aroma of cookies and cakes or traveling to Disneyland and ghost towns to do some ghost hunting. Jacalyn loved chasing her grandson around playing cops and robbers. She had the gift of gab and loved storytelling, but also enjoyed her quiet time. Jacalyn liked working alongside her granddaughter in their garden; just this year having her son build an even bigger and better oasis for the family. She will certainly be missed. Jacalyn is preceded by her parents, Dale and Florence Jacobson; sister, Colleen Hardaway; and the mother of her grandchildren, Desaree. Left to cherish her memories are her son, Michael Zemlicka; grandchildren, Dallis, Jaxson, and Olivia Zemlicka; step grandchildren, Kira and Austin Clark; brother-in-law, Sammie Hardaway; niece, Tawnya; and great nieces, Kaylynn and Samantha.
