Mrs. Imogene B. Hobby, 83 of Perkinston, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, April 22, 2017. "Genie" was born May 21, 1933 in Leakesville, MS, to Earnest and Annie Brown. She grew up in the St. Ellen community of Greene county, and graduated from Greene County High School. She married the love of her life, Welch I. Hobby when she was 18. He was in the US Air Force, and the couple lived in many parts of the world during his career of over 20 years. After his retirement, they eventually settled in Perkinston, where they have lived for the past 21 years. From an early age, she developed a passion for sewing, and made a career as a seamstress. She also enjoyed outings to the local casinos for fun. Genie will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Welch Ivan "W.I." Hobby; her daughter, Lisa H. Walker of Perkinston; a sister, Carolyn B. Whitehead of Scottsboro, AL; her beloved furry children, Trudy and Gracie, and numerous extended family, neighbors, and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Richard Lee Hobby, and her parents, Earnest H. and Annie M. Brown. Mrs. Genie's wishes were to be cremated, which her family is following. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2017, at 9:00 am, at the Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her honor to the Humane Society of South MS. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Hobby family in their time of need.
