Ida Ruth Nobles, affectionately known as Ruthie to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2023, in the same Catahoula Community where she was born on March 10, 1938. Her life was a tapestry of love, hard work, and joyful moments, woven together with the threads of her unwavering spirit and the warmth of her heart. Ruthie's work ethic was as strong as her character. She began her career at the ammo plant in Kiln, MS, and after an unfortunate accident led to its closure, she transitioned to "Stuff Shirt" in Pass Christian. There, she dedicated thirty-one years as a skilled seamstress and ripper until the business closed, marking the beginning of her well-deserved retirement. Retirement for Ruthie meant the freedom to indulge in her passions—traveling, camping, attending bluegrass festivals, and being present for her grandchildren's baseball games and school functions. Her home, affectionately known as "Maw Maw's," was a haven where grandbabies gathered and memories were made. Ruthie's interests were as diverse as they were heartfelt. A former basketball player from her high school days at Kiln, she carried her love for the game throughout her life. After moving to Lumberton and starting a family, she eventually returned to her roots in the Catahoula community, where she rekindled her love for the simple joys of country living. Her chickens were not just pets but a part of her daily life, and her distinctive call, "Come Quick!" was a familiar sound to those who knew her well. Her companion, Drexel, became a cherished part of her life, stepping in as a father figure to her children and sharing in the joys and challenges of their journey together. Ruthie's faith was personal and profound; she worshipped the Lord in her own way, with a conviction that was evident to all who knew her. Her ability to welcome everyone into her fold was unmatched; to meet Ruthie was to become a part of her extended family. Ruthie's love was unconditional, and she had a unique gift for making each person in her life feel loved and special. She was a woman of strength, standing her ground with a fierceness that was balanced by her generous spirit. Her laughter, wisdom, and the love she shared will be deeply missed but never forgotten. As we bid farewell to Ida Ruth Nobles, we celebrate a life lived with passion, a heart given freely to others, and a soul that has undoubtedly left an indelible mark on this world. Her story does not end here, for it lives on in the hearts of those she touched. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lott and Ida Cuevas; son James Thomas "Cuz" Nobles, two sisters, five brothers, one great-grandson Dakota Spiers, one great-great-grandson Mason Price, and her long-time companion Drexel Ladner. Left to cherish her memories are her three daughters, Debra (John) Garriga, Sr., Cynthia Nobles Draime, and Kathy Nobles; her eight grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. One sister, who was always her "right-hand woman" and loved dearly, Dorothy Ladner. One special sister/niece Ollie Shiyou, special sister-in-law Bobby Dean Cuevas, and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, family, and friends. The family would like to give a special thank you to St. Joseph Hospice, especially Cassandra Lawless (Wiggy), Tess Torregano (Shooter), and Katherine Miller. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Nobles family in their time of need and asks that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers through the days ahead.
