SSGT. Guy Roger Gunter, Sr., 55 of Wiggins, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Dec. 6th, 2017 in Wiggins. Guy was born July 3, 1962 in Gulfport, the middle of 3 children to Cliff Gunter & Gussie Hickman. He grew up in the Crestview area of Orange Grove, and enjoyed fishing and playing baseball as a young boy. Guy attended Harrison Central High School, and has worked since he was 16 as a welder and carpenter. He joined the MS Army National Guard in 1988, and served 20 years as a combat engineer, retiring as a staff sergeant in 2011. Guy is remembered as a fun-loving man who would gladly give you the shirt off his back, a loving, devoted husband who provided for, and dearly loved his family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Guy was preceded by his father, Cliff Gunter, and his mother, Gussie Hickman. He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Dawn; their children, Kathy Beavers of Las Vegas, NV, Robert (Jenny) Motley of Broken Arrow, OK, Thomas (Angela) Pace of Atlanta, GA, Roger (Jamie) Gunter, II, and Elise (Andy) Brown, both of Wiggins, and Bobby Davenport of Gulfport; two brothers, Ricky (Wanda) Gunter) of Long Beach, and David (Iona) Gunter of Saucier, and a sister, Kady (Ronnie) Pietz; an aunt, Shirley (Paul) Prine of the Magnolia community; 16 grandchildren, whom he dearly loved, along with numerous extended family and friends. His wishes were to be cremated, which his family is following, and Guy will be interred at Biloxi National Cemetery. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Gunter family, and asks that you keep Dawn and the entire family in your thoughts and prayers through this difficult time.
