Grant Theodore Ellzey, Sr.

December 8, 1953 — December 15, 2024

Perkinston

Grant Theodore Ellzey, Sr., 71, of Perkinston, MS., passed away on December 15, 2024, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by those he loved. Grant was born on December 8, 1953, in Biloxi, to his parents, Curtis and Rita (Boudwin) Ellzey, Sr. Grant grew up with a love for hot rods and motorcycles. From tearing them down to building them back, he loved every minute spent tinkering and even more so, he loved showing his family how to do it and spending that quality time with them. A soft and kind-hearted man, Grant Ellzey was a family man, and they meant everything in the world to him. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it, and no one ever had a cross word to say about Grant, as he was as genuine as they come. Fishing was more of something Grant enjoyed doing to pass time, because well, he never really had much luck at catching any fish. Grant did know how to mow grass, and he was passionate about his yard, always making sure it was freshly cut. Grant will be missed by all who knew and loved him, as he was just that, to be known was to be loved. Grant is preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Rita Ellzey, Sr.; his brothers, Curtis Ellzey, Jr., Mark Ellzey, and Jerry Ellzey; one nephew, Douglas Ellzey, Sr.; one grandson, Branden Harvey; his mother-in-law, Ruth DuBois; and his brother-in-law, Patrick Labruyere. Left to cherish his memory, his loving wife of thirty-five years, Karen DuBois Ellzey; his seven children, Tina Ellzey, Grant (Crystal) Ellzey, Jr., Edwin Desporte, Jeremy Ellzey, Nicholas Ellzey, Matthew Desporte, Ryan (Heather) Ellzey; eleven grandchildren; one great grandson, two sisters, Gay Askin and Joy Corona; and his special companion Jinx. The family would like to thank Dr. Olivia Hightower and her staff for the wonderful care and compassion they showed Grant, as well as his hospice nurse, Nathan and his Aide Kelly. Services for Grant will be held Saturday, December 21, 2024, beginning at 12:00 Noon for his Funeral Service, at Trinity Funeral Services in McHenry.
