Gloria Jean Miller, 66 of Lumberton, passed away Friday morning at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 22, 1955 in Danville, PA, the youngest of two children to Elmer J. and Frances Helena (Broschart) Hartman. Gloria grew up a country farm girl in rural Pennsylvania. She loved animals and playing in the fields and creek, but reading soon became her pastime. Gloria became an avid reader and would read anything she could get her hands on. In January 1973, she went on a blind date with Abraham Miller, a young airman serving in the USAF. Gloria graduated from Benton High School with the Class of '73, married Abe in October that same year, and had been together since. While he served in the Air Force, they travelled and lived in several states and a few countries. She wasn't one to sit idly by though, always finding something to do wherever they were, usually some office work, legal secretary, and more. They came to South MS in 2008 and have called Lumberton home since. Gloria is remembered as an easy-going woman that loved to laugh and enjoy life. A wonderful woman in every respect, she was Abe's soul mate and best friend, and was always there for her children and family. She will no doubt be sadly missed by all whose life she touched. Gloria was preceded by her parents, Elmer and Frances Hartman. Left to cherish her memories are: her loving husband of nearly 49 years, Abe, with their children, Tara (Raymond) Brown and Brian Miller, all of Lumberton; and her brother, David (Donna) Hartman of Benton, PA, and her lifelong friend, Pam Dilmore. Gloria leaves a legacy of three grandchildren: Brandon (Sarah) Brown, Justin, and Sabrina Brown, with four great grands: Hayden, Chase, Elijah, and Felix, along with numerous extended family, and friends scattered around the world over the years. Her final wishes were to be cremated and returned to PA and be scattered in Fishing Creek back home, which her family is honoring. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Miller family in their time of need, asking everyone to keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
