Obituary

Glenn Harry Lazenby, 74 of Lumberton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. He was born on November 15, 1951 in Lumberton, the middle of three children to Harry Louie and Farris (Holley) Lazenby. Glenn grew up there in Lumberton where he enjoyed fishing and hunting. Glenn became a Christian as a young boy and attended First Baptist Lumberton for many years. He attended Lumberton schools, graduating with the Panther Class of 1970. From there, it was on to Pearl River Community College, however he decided to join the US Navy while there. Glenn served honorably and following his discharge, he returned to PRCC and completed his degree in electrical wiring. Glenn went to work at Bell-Halter Marine in New Orleans and was there for many years before going to work at Forrest General Hospital, retiring in 2018 after more than 40 years as an electrician. He met Jean at FBC Lumberton in 1980. They were married in 1984 and they bought a small farm property there in Lumberton. Glenn enjoyed taking care of and raising his Hereford cows, his German Shepherd dogs, and he even tolerated the cats his wife always seemed to have around. The farm was his hobby in life, and Glenn spent most of his free time there, tinkering or working on something. In fact, he had just recently finished his new barn a few weeks ago. He is lovingly remembered as a great person who always put his wife and family before himself. Glenn remained very active in church, working alongside his wife with the children's ministry. He enjoyed reading Louis L'Amor books and watching westerns on television to relax. A tough but always loving father, Glenn provided for his family and always made sure their needs were met. For all that he was, he will be forever missed by those whose life he touched. He was preceded by his parents, Harry and Farris (Holley) Lazenby, and his only sister, Margaret Lazenby. Left to cherish his many fond memories are: his loving wife and best friend, Jean Lazenby; their only daughter, Valorie (Joe) Gricius of Holt, FL; and his brother, Rev. Cliff (Joanne) Lazenby of Hattiesburg. Glenn leaves a legacy of three grandchildren: Allison Gricius, David Hilbun, and Dean Hilbun, all of FL, along with numerous extended family, friends and neighbors, co-workers, and many more who knew him. Funeral services are set for Tuesday morning, June 30th at First Baptist Church in Lumberton. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 10:00. His brother Rev. Cliff Lazenby will officiate, and afterward Glenn will be laid to rest in the Lumberton City Cemetery. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Lazenby family in their time of need and asks that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers through the days ahead.
