Gladys "Marti" Pertuit Martin, a beacon of kindness and passion, left this world on February 9, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on February 23, 1944, in Marrero, Louisiana, to parents Sidney Pertuit and Louise Pertuit, and sister to Donald, Tommy, and Kenneth Pertuit. Her life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and service, woven with the threads of family and her unwavering commitment to animal welfare. Marti was both a guiding light and a steadfast supporter to her children, Dana Klees Brown and Chad Klees. She instilled in them values of compassion and perseverance. Marti was a source of endless encouragement, always there with a helping hand. Her role as a grandmother was one of her greatest joys. Kristin Brown Caulfield and Kaleb Klees knew their "Nana" as an endless well of love. She was always there to lend a hand, a ride, or cheer them on at school plays, sports events, and every milestone in their lives. Her presence was a gift that they had. Her great-grandchildren, Kaleo, Saylor, and Charlie, became the light of her eyes. Marti's love for them always showed in every smile, gesture, and laugh as she was so proud of them. Marti dedicated countless hours and energy to animal rescue groups, and dog fostering. Her home was a haven for the voiceless and the vulnerable, and she worked tirelessly to ensure that every creature she encountered found love and care. Her passion for this cause was a calling that she answered with her whole heart. Those who knew Marti will remember her for her selflessness and her unwavering commitment to making the world a better place, both for people and, for animals. She was a friend to all, and her memory will continue to inspire acts of kindness and advocacy in the hearts of those she touched. Marti's life was a testament to the beauty of giving, and she will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her spirit will continue to glow in the memories of those she loved and in the lives of the animals she saved. Marti's journey was one of purpose, love, and profound generosity—a life truly well-lived. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve Marti's family in their time of need and we ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers through the days ahead.
