Gladys Delula Ladner

May 21, 1931 — April 24, 2019

Lumberton, MS

Ms. Gladys D. Ladner, 87 of Lumberton, went to her eternal home Wednesday, April 24th. Born May 21, 1931 in Poplarville, she was the youngest of three children to Wilson & Amber (Johnson) Lazenby. She grew up and attended school in Lumberton where her family had a small farm. Gladys was a friendly but hard-working country girl that enjoyed the outdoors and cooking. She rode the bus to school, which is where she met her beau, Edd Ladner. He drove the school bus as a young man, and after she graduated, the two were married and spent their lives together. Gladys attended PRCC after high school, where she achieved a degree in business. In their life journey, they lived in several places, including Oregon, Georgia, and eventually found their way back home to Lumberton. Gladys and Edd lived life to the fullest, travelling and enjoying all they could. She collected numerous mementos from those travels, including rocks, rubys, fossils and many other items, all of which she labeled and kept through the years. In her spare time, Gladys loved to cook, crochet, play games with the kids and grandkids, and visit the casinos now and again. A loving mother, friend, and neighbor, she has longed to go "home" since Edd passed away in 2010. She will be fondly remembered, and sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Gladys was preceded by her husband, Edd Ladner; her son, Roger Ladner; and her only brother, Tommy Lazenby. Left to cherish her memories are: her son, Dennis Ladner of Statham, GA; four grandchildren: Denise Massey, Wayne (Gina) Ladner, Frances Ladner, and William Ladner, along with nine great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild; her sister, Vivian Ferguson, along with untold numbers of friends and neighbors scattered from coast to coast. Ms. Gladys was laid to rest at a private, family ceremony Friday morning at the Lee-Ladner Cemetery beside Hickory Grove Baptist Church, where she was a life-long member. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Ladner family in their time of need, and asks that everyone keep them in your prayers over the coming days.
