Geraldine Jeanette (Sumrall) Williams

Geraldine Jeanette (Sumrall) Williams, age 89, of Lumberton passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 15, 2019 in Poplarville. She was born November 13, 1929 to Archie & Evelyn (Clark) Sumrall in Rhode Island. Ms. Jerry, as she was lovingly called, at the age of 18 married the love of her life and together they raised two wonderful daughters. She worked at Movie Star for over 25 years but her true calling was to be a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing and her family and friends enjoyed her scratch cakes!! She was a true southern lady that believed in being generous to a fault and supported her girls in all their endeavors along with her church, Hickory Grove Baptist in Lumberton. She will be remembered as the glue that held the family together. Though she will be terribly missed, the family takes comfort in knowing that she is in her eternal heavenly home. Ms. Jerry is preceded in death by her parents; infant son, John Michael Williams; brother, John Sumrall; son in law, James "Rusty" Broome; great grandson, John Michael Green; brother in law, Robert Gartman and niece, Phyllis Cochian.  She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of 72 years, John "Jim" Williams; daughters, Linda (David) Floyd and Janet Broome; sister, Majorie Gartman; grandchildren; Keith (Tina), Paul (Melissa), Jacqueline (Stacy), Stephanie (Josh) and Michelle (Allen); great-grands, Maeleigh, Dylan, Courtney, Oliver, Dalton, Danica, Rustin and Colby; great niece, Lautine Lott along with 7 step great grands, 3 step great great grands and numerous extended family and friends. A visitation will be held Wednesday, September 18 at 10 AM at Trinity Funeral Services in Lumberton with a chapel service at 11 AM followed by interment in Lumberton City Cemetery. The family wants to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time and invites everyone back to Trinity Funeral Services' fellowship hall for a meal following the graveside.
