George E. Thompson Jr, born August 26, 1963, in East St. Louis, Illinois, passed away on July 2, 2026, in Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi. George will be remembered by all who knew him for his warm spirit, generous heart, and unwavering love for his family.
George spent his early years in Illinois and later graduated from Salem High School. Throughout his life, he pursued a hardworking and honest path, undertaking various roles that spoke to his character and work ethic. He worked diligently in the saw mill and also found fulfillment as a ranch hand on farms, embracing each task with a sense of responsibility and pride.
Outside of work, George’s passions centered around the simple joys of life. He especially loved caring for his dogs, showing them the same loyalty and affection he extended to those around him. Always known as a fun-loving guy, George brought laughter and warmth to every gathering. His willingness to help anybody in need was part of what made him so dearly cherished in his community.
Among his proudest accomplishments was the loving family he treasured above all else. George’s devotion to his siblings, extended family, and all those he considered dear is a legacy that will continue to live on. He held a special fondness for his nieces and nephews, delighting in their accomplishments and supporting them with a kindness that knew no bounds.
George is survived by his brothers, Edward, Patrick, Michael, and Matthew Thompson with spouse Jessica Metcalf; sisters, Sarah Cassidy, Tillie Brooks with Christopher, and Mellissa Thompson; stepmother Pamela Thompson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will always carry his memory in their hearts.
He is preceded in death by his father, George Edward Thompson Sr; mother, Betty Mae Johnson; his wife, Tracy Shipley Thompson; and his brother, Jack McDaniels.
Those who had the privilege of knowing George will remember him for the love he gave freely, the laughter he inspired, and the help he offered without hesitation. His presence will be missed deeply, and his legacy will remain alive through the many lives he touched.
