Gene Edward White, a loving and hardworking father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2023, in Long Beach, Mississippi. Born on September 28, 1939, Gene was known for his friendly demeanor, his handy skills, and his unwavering dedication to his family and friends. Born in Petal, but grew up on the gulf coast of Mississippi, Gene developed a strong work ethic. He spent much of his life working as a roofer and mechanic, taking great pride in his work and always willing to lend a hand to those in need. His love for adventure led him to visit Arizona and the Grand Canyon, where he marveled at the breathtaking landscape. He also served a short two-year stint in the Air Force, further showcasing his dedication to his country. In his free time, Gene enjoyed spending time by the river, sitting around a bonfire with friends and family. His warm presence and infectious laughter will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin White and Nonnie Slocum; siblings, Shirley, Billy Ray, and Jerry White; and the mother of his children, Norma Donald. He is survived by his daughters, Angela Donald and Crystal Phillips; siblings David and Glen White; grandchildren, Luis Baltazar, Hannah Bellorin, Autumn White, and Ernest Phillips Jr.; and cousin, Charles E. White.
