Gary Lindsey Tindel, 59 of Wiggins, passed away Friday afternoon, August 6, 2021 at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport. Gary was the baby of three kids and the only boy to Paul Moses and Sarah Leeann (Smith) Tindel. He was born July 10, 1962 in Biloxi and grew up there. From the start, it was easy to see his athleticism. Though he loved baseball more than anything, he also played basketball and ran track. He was what you might call and "avid athlete", but an even bigger sports fan. Gary was a dedicated, die-hard fan of the Florida State Seminoles and the New Orleans Saints football teams, as well as Jeff Gordon and NASCAR. He also loved the water, which you might expect from a Biloxi native. He enjoyed fishing, throwing a cast net, even building his own at one point, or just being out on the water boating or tubing with family and friends. Gary was a member of the Biloxi Indian's Class of 1980 and from there, he enrolled at Phillips Jr. College. He worked a few odd jobs as most do, working at a shrimp factory and others before landing an entry-level position with Asplundh in 1985. Gary enjoyed that and worked his way up the ladder to the position of general foreman in over 20 years of time there. Gary was Gary and there really isn't many like him. He had his ways, which may seem quirky to most, but in his mind, it wasn't him who was the quirky one...it was everyone else. For example, he had to have ice cubes in a glass of milk, as well as in his cereal, because he liked to drink the remaining milk and it was never cold enough. His hanky was always in his right pocket, with his chapstick in the left, and that's how it was going to be without exception. There is lots more to go with those, but that was Gary. A very blunt and straight-forward person, telling you or anyone just like it was, Gary also had a great sense of humor. He joked around quite a bit, but not with just anybody now. If he didn't joke around with you, that meant that he didn't really like you that much anyway. Gary had his ups and downs in life as we all do, but no matter what came up, he always kept God first and foremost, above all else. He gave his heart to the Lord at East Howard Baptist Church many years ago, attended Ten Mile while living in Wiggins and most recently was a member at Bethel Baptist Church in Pensacola, FL. before returning to Wiggins just a few days ago. He loved to cook and was always doing something special for "the game or race". Football and NASCAR won't be the same without him. Friends and family will definitely miss his seafood dressing and other dishes, the jokes, pranks and all of his antics, like air-drumming to Aerosmith on the dash of the car or table. His love of life itself was very apparent and he was always thankful to God for every day he had. Gary will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all whose life he touched. He was preceded by his parents, Paul and Sarah Tindel. Left to cherish his memories are: his loving wife Bridget; daughters Brittny (Cody) Perryman, Shelbeigh (Jeffrey) Allen and Lindsey Tindel, all of Wiggins, with bonus kids, daughter Kristin (Andrew) Byrd of Mt. Vernon, AL. and a son, Tyler Winn of Mobile; two sisters: Susan Tindel of Biloxi and Sharon (Chuck) Prine of Wiggins. Gary leaves a legacy of seven grandchildren: Ava Sellers, Abi, Abram and Aubrey Allen, Ada and Brody Perryman and Aspen McCarroll, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends. Services will be held Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Trinity Funeral Services in McHenry, with visitation beginning at 2:00 PM. A chapel service will begin at 4:00 PM, with interment in Woodlawn Cemetery in Wiggins afterward. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Tindel family in their time of need, asking everyone to keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they walk this deep valley.
