Gary Keith Moree, Sr., 60 of the Graves Creek Community in Marion County, passed away late Wednesday afternoon at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg following a brief illness. He was born October 24, 1960 at Marion General Hospital, the baby of seven children to Rillis Joshua and Emma Lee (Magee) Moree. Gary grew up in Graves Creek, a small rural community in Marion County where he came to enjoy hunting, fishing, camping and most anything outdoors. Most activities were family oriented and that stuck with Gary through his life. He attended East Marion High School, graduating with the Class of 1978. In 1981, Gary went to a July 4th gathering where he met Susan. They began dating and were married less than a year later, making their family home in Graves Creek as well. Gary went to work for Griner Drilling where he worked for several years. He did have a couple of other ventures over the years as well, going offshore for a while and driving a vac-truck for Walker-Hill Environmental Services over the past few years. Gary was a very loving, hard-working provider for his family. A faithful soul-mate, father and family man, he enjoyed the simple, country life. They were most always outdoors, camping or fishing on the river. While he didn't play any sports growing up, Gary enjoyed watching his boys play as often as he could. He taught them to hunt, fish and enjoy time spent with family as well. Gary was a Mason and in his spare time, he raised and showed game roosters for many years. His departure was both unexpected and far too soon. Gary will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all whom knew and loved him. He was preceded by his parents, Rillis and Emma Moree. Left to cherish his memories are: his loving wife and soul-mate of 39 years, Susan; their sons, Keith and James Moree, both of Columbia; his sisters Brenda (Ernest) Williamson of Sumrall, Betty Turner, Judy Mulford and Jean (Harry) Thompson, all of Columbia, and his brothers, Austin Moree and Larue (Barbara) Moree, also of Columbia; one grandson, Gage Moree and his side-kick, Jessie James, along with numerous extended family, friends and neighbors through the years. Visitation will be Friday afternoon, June 4th from 5:30 PM until 9:00 PM in the sanctuary of Pine Hill Baptist Church, and again at noon on Saturday June 5th. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM with Pastor Hunter Phillips and Rev. Ben Bedwell officiating. Afterward, Gary will be laid to rest in the Grantham Cemetery. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Moree family in their time of need, asking everyone to keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this trying time.
