Gary Ronald Caudill, Sr.

Mr. Gary Ronald Caudill, Sr., 65 of Hyden, KY, passed away Saturday afternoon at Garden Park Hospital in Gulfport. Gary was born on April Fool's Day 1954 in Hazard, Kentucky, one of seven and son of Elmer & Charlene (Wright) Caudill. He grew up in Hazard and has loved fishing from the time he could hold a rod. Gary lived in coal country and like many others, made a career as a miner. He would meet Phyllis while in Chicago in 1973 and they were married the following year in West Virginia, making their home in Hyden, KY. Over the years, Gary has kept his passion for fishing, making many trips to the MS Gulf Coast to fish with his son over the years. A loving husband and father, he will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Gary was preceded by his parents, Elmer & Charlene Caudill, and a son, Gary Caudill, Jr. Left to cherish his memories are: his loving wife of 46 years, Phyllis; his children, a son Donald Wagers of Gulfport and a daughter Angela Stacey, along with his three brothers and three sisters. He leaves a legacy of 4 grandchildren: Preston Stacy, his only granddaughter Joyce Stacy, Austin and Jordan Caudill, with four great-grands, Skyler, Gio, London and Allison Stacy, along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors through the years. His final wishes were to be cremated, which his family is honoring.
