Gary Wayne Bass

Gary Wayne Bass, 74, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 4, 2024. He was born in Lumberton, MS on February 1, 1950. A man of the outdoors, Gary spent his life working in the oilfields and behind the wheel of a truck, but his heart was always at the creek where he lovingly raised his family. His passion for fishing and camping was only matched by his love for parades, with the St. Patrick and Irish parades being the highlights of his year. He loved great music and spending time with friends at Callahan's. During his school years, Gary was known for his responsibility and community spirit, serving as the bus driver for his peers. His jovial spirit and love for life's simple pleasures left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Gary's legacy is one of joy, hard work, and an enduring love for the creek that was his favorite place on earth. He will be deeply missed by friends and family alike. Gary is preceded by his parents, George Harrison Bass and Mabel Wright Henley Bass. Left to cherish his memories are his Loving wife, Andrea L. Bass; children, Terry (Ruth) Bass, Wanda (Mark) Saulters, Christie (Daryl) Saulters, Brandon (Kathy) Bass, Zachary (Tiffany Smith) Lauland; mother of his children, Bonnie Holcomb; along with 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
