Mr. Frankie Lee Shoemaker, 52 of Hickory, MS, passed away January 28, 2019 in Jackson. Frankie was born on July 7, 1966, to the late Frank Ford and Ethel Mae Shoemaker in Meridian, MS. He was known to all as "Boochie", and attended Hickory Elementary School where he proved to be a bright and intellectual student. At 9 years old, he was baptized and became a member of Bethel Baptist Church where he remained a member all of his life. While a student at Hickory High School, he discovered a talent for music. Boochie played tuba, trombone, and other instruments in the marching band. He graduated from Hickory High School in 1984 and entered the workforce. Frankie was married to Betty Wilson and they have two sons- Joshua and Frankie. In 2003, he enrolled in Meridian Community College to pursue a degree and certifications in carpentry, HVAC and Drafting and Design. While at MCC, he excelled academically and was asked to give student lectures to his fellow classmates. He was on a team of students that competed throughout the country. He won a gold medal for carpentry in the SkillsUSA state competition. His team participated in the Team Works competiton which requires teams of 4 students to build a joint project in 2 days, demonstrating their preparations for employment in residential construction life. His team came in 2nd place. After he graduated from MCC at the top of his class, he went back into the workforce to work as an independent constructor. Frankie was a loved member of his community and was known for helping others. He loved his family and he loved his friends. He enjoyed spending time playing horseshoes with friends, watching TV, and listening to music. He was known for and teased by his siblings for his love of all cartoons, especially He-Man and Thundercats. Thunder! Thunder! Thundercats! Hoooooooooooo!!!! Frankie was preceded in death by his father, Frank Ford; his sister Kassinda Ford, and his granddaughter, Anylah Wilson. Frankie was called home on January 28, 2019, at 9:00 pm at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Frankie leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted mother, Ethel Ford of Hickory, MS; (4) children: his daughter, Vallissa Branscomb (Terrell) of Little Rock, AR; his daughter, Jaqueline Spivey of Milwaukee, WI; his son, Joshua Wilson (Nakita) of Forest Park, GA; his son, Frankie Wilson (Ebone) of Meridian, MS; (8) siblings: his sister Wanda Ford of Newton, MS; his brother Keith Ford (Martha) of Newton, MS; his brother Wonza Ford of Newton, MS; his brother, Alonza Ford (Marcia) of Newton, MS his sister, Kimberly Pearce (Karl) of Clayton, NC; his sister Dewanna Price (Ken) of Newton, MS, his sister, Rhonda Ford of Riverdale, GA; his brother Samuel Ford of Riverdale, GA; (11) grandchildren and his devoted friend, self-adopted brother and cousins, Daniel Thompson. He also leaves to cherish his memory a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A Homegoing Celebration Service will be held at noon on Saturday, February 2, at Bethel Baptist Church, 16578 Hwy 80 East, Hickory, MS 39332. Trinity Funeral Services are honored to serve the Shoemaker family during this difficult time and ask that you keep them lifted up in your prayers.
