Francis George Robnett Sr., affectionately known as "Daddy" to his children and "Papa George" to the countless individuals touched by his contagious smile and even bigger heart, passed away on May 16, 2025, at his home in Wiggins, MS, leaving this world a brighter place. Born under the Texas sun in Houston on August 20, 1942, Daddy charted a course through life filled with laughter, deep affection, and unwavering loyalty. Daddy's life unfolded like a well-traveled map, marked by years on offshore oil rigs where he worked as a cook. He was a simple man who cherished the simple pleasures in life—from sitting on the porch watching his grandchildren play, to listening to their melodious singing and watching them play their musical instruments. Daddy enjoyed the outdoors, playing board games (especially Aggravation), spending time in the kitchen canning tomatoes, and indulging in classic Westerns. He loved the moments when his grandchildren invaded his room, where they would spend countless hours delighting in cartoons together. Papa George's grandchildren and all those he loved as grandchildren were the brilliant stars in his sky, showered with endless affection and the pure joy only a grandparent can bestow. The friendly clash of cards—mostly the games his grandchildren wanted to play, like Go-Fish, Uno, and Old Maid—was a cherished ritual. Papa George was a playful instigator of jokes and laughter, often igniting joy and mischief wherever he went. His spirited nature led to many memorable incidents that filled the air with laughter and delight. One particularly notable episode involved the fire department being called after he decided to climb on his grandchildren's jungle gym and got stuck in the top rung. On another occasion, the fire department was once again summoned when he eagerly decided to join his grandson on the trampoline, resulting in him needing a little rescue. Perfecting the art of fun, Papa George would often load up his golf cart with kids, driving them around the yard while their joyous laughter rang out like music in the air. These are just a few examples of the delightful shenanigans he engaged in, each moment a testament to his love for grandchildren and his unyielding spirit of playfulness. With every adventure, he created lasting memories that his grandchildren will carry with them always, remembering the man who turned ordinary days into extraordinary escapades. Daddy's collection of die-cast classic cars was more than just a hobby; it was a passion that brought him immense joy. He took great pride in showcasing his beloved collection, but what truly set him apart was his generosity in sharing this treasure with his grandchildren. He often invited them to play with the cars, reminding them with a twinkle in his eye to "just not break them." This playful warning came with a warm smile, as he delighted in watching their imaginations run wild. For Papa George, sharing his beloved cars was not just about the objects themselves, but about fostering a sense of adventure and nostalgia with his grandchildren. Each interaction with the cars was a chance to bridge generations, creating cherished memories that would last long after he was gone. His collection remains a symbol of his love—a reminder of his joy in sharing his interests and the warmth he brought to our lives. Deeply rooted in his faith, Daddy attended New Zeal Baptist Church. His love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, was evident in the everyday kindnesses he extended to others. He could often be found sitting on the porch with his granddaughter, enjoying gospel music together. Daddy's journey on this earth hasn't ended; it has simply transformed into a cherished story—a testament to a life lived with kindness and love, leaving an indelible imprint on every heart he encountered. Although he is greatly missed, Daddy's enduring legacy is lovingly held within his close-knit family and friends. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carolyn Beatrice Robnett; his parents, Helen and Lester Robnett; and all his siblings. Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Francis George Robnett Jr. (Norma) of New Augusta and Brian Robnett (Stephanie) of Ohio; his daughter, Sheila Havens (Lewis) of Wiggins; along with his beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and those he chose to love as grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. In celebrating the life of my Daddy, known as "Papa George", we remember a remarkable spirit whose laughter and love will continue to resonate within the hearts of those who knew him.
