Ms. Frances Camille Grantham

Ms. Frances C. Grantham, 82 of Mendenhall, passed away Wednesday morning in Perkinston. Frances was born September 11, 1934, one of 4 children to Fordy and Dolly Mae Welch. She grew up and lived in the Mendenhall area, until Arthur Ray Grantham caught her eye. The two were married on July 29, 1954, and moved to Hattiesburg while he attended USM. After his graduation, he went to work for International Paper Co., and the young couple moved to Mobile, AL. While there, their only child, Wayne, was born, and the family stayed there until 1969 when the company transferred him to Pine Bluff, AR. They remained there until Ray retired from IP in 1991, and returned to Mendenhall where they built their home on Pine Lane. Frances was a career homemaker and housewife who put in many hours raising their son and taking care of the Grantham home. Her husband passed away in 1996, and Frances remained in the home that they built. She was a loving, Christian woman, and attended Pleasant Valley church for many years. She will be sadly missed by all whos life she touched. She is survived by her only child, Wayne Grantham (Brenda) of Wiggins, MS; one sister, Tish Bills (Stan) of Pensacola, FL; two grandchildren, Jonathon Grantham (Ashley) of Oxford, MS, and Katelynn Grantham of Wiggins; three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, Arthur Ray Grantham; by her siblings, Freddy Welch, and Margaret Welch Box; and by her parents, Fordy & Dolly Mae Welch. Graveside services are scheduled for Monday, April 17, 2017 in the Merit Cemetery in Mendenhall, where she will be interred beside her late husband. The family will receive friends beginning at noon, with the funeral service at 1:00 PM, officiated by Rev. Earl Clark.
